Educational Workshops
While there is no known cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, learning the warning signs and catching them early can make the disease more manageable for everyone affected. Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services provides Alzheimer’s patients and their families, friends, and caregivers the tools and resources to cope with and combat the disease. In addition, our annual Out of Africa event in Tulsa, OK is one of the largest African-American focused Alzheimer's Events in the nation, and has been awareness and education for the disease for nearly two decades.
Who the Program is For: Caregivers, families, pastors/congregations, and community organizations aiming to expand their knowledge and make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other related forms of dementia.
Support Groups for Caregivers and Family Members
Our commitment lies in providing a nurturing environment for caregivers and families to address their concerns and personal needs effectively. Our support groups serve as invaluable resources, offering insights and discussions on various topics aimed at maintaining caregivers' holistic well-being—physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially—while tending to their loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer's or related forms of dementia.
Who It's For: Caregivers and family members seeking a supportive network and valuable insights to sustain their own well-being while caring for someone diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or any other related forms of dementia.
Family Caregiver Respite Relief Program
The Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services, Inc., Family Caregiver Respite Relief Program is designed to alleviate the burden faced by caregivers whose loved ones have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or any form of dementia. Our goal is to provide a crucial respite relief program that fosters a supportive community, with professionally coordinated services, to assist caregivers in reducing burnout. The program will also provide free comprehensive care consultations and referrals, specialized quarterly training workshops, and support groups that will equip caregivers with the essential skills and knowledge to enrich their overall health and well-being. Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services, Inc. covers 100% percent of the program expenses, to assist all caregivers and family members in focusing on their personal care and quality of life.
Healthy Start-Healthy Brain Strategies Educational Training/Workshops
Healthy Brain Strategies Workshop is a program designed to educate expecting teen moms/dads and young adult parents on how to give their newborn babies and children a healthy start in life. Because of the lack of knowledge concerning Alzheimer’s disease, the many forms of dementia, and risk factors, the sessions will focus on how important it is to protect the brain and overall health of the expecting mom/unborn and children. Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services, Inc. will also focus on the importance of being mentally and physically healthy while at the same time maintaining a healthy diet and a personal exercise program.
NXT-GEN AZ
The NXT-GEN AZ Educational Program goals are: (1.) To educate the next generation about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. (2) To assist in their overall knowledge of statistics and risk factors. (3.) To assist their generation in living a healthier lifestyle. (4.) And to help their generation understand the value of caring for those living with the disease while at the same time paying it forward.
Her Story Angel Award Program
The Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services Organization, and Board of Directors, decided on March 31, 2022, to join the National Women’s History Month movement that was fought for and established in 1987 when Congress made a final decision to go from a week to a month of celebrating women. Our goal is to celebrate and acknowledge seven women from all walks of life and different professional backgrounds within our local community. They are women whose mission and vision are to improve the lives of individuals in need of the diversified services that we all provide. The program and luncheon are held in the historical Greenwood District, and each recipient is presented with an Angel Award to say; “Thank You” for a heart to serve and for helping make our city, and our state, a better place to live.
Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon Program
November is National Alzheimer’s and Caregiver Awareness Month. Our goal as an organization is to recognize caregivers who struggle daily to care for their loved ones who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. We join others across the nation to show our appreciation locally for caregivers who have participated in our monthly support groups and attended all workshops/training sessions, by honoring them with certificates/gift bags at the Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon Program, hosted at the Post Oaks Lodge.
